どんな商品を作っているの？
「feline pages 〜猫と書〜」というブランド名で、カルトン（厚紙）をベースに作る箱や文具などを制作しています。このページの冒頭に、着物姿の女性と猫の画像がぼんやりと見えているかと思いますが、これが商品の外装の中心となるデザインです。和風と猫が好きな私の好みを反映したものですが、そこに共感してくださる猫好きさん、和好きさんにも楽しんでいただけたらと思いながら、 一つひとつ大切に制作しています。
What kind of products do I create?
Under my brand, “feline pages ~ Neko to Sho ~,” I create boxes, stationery, and other items using thick paperboard (carton) as their foundation.
You may notice the soft, misty image at the top of this page, featuring a woman in a kimono with a cat. This is the central design element of my product exteriors.
These creations are a reflection of my own love for Japanese aesthetics and cats. I hope they will also be enjoyed by cat lovers and those who appreciate Japanese culture around the world, as I carefully create each piece, one at a time.
feline pages〜猫と書〜とは？
猫を抱きながら季節の庭を眺める、名前のない着物の女性。
その静かなひとときをモチーフに作品を制作しています。
春には木蓮、夏には朝顔、秋には秋桜、冬には椿。
移りゆく季節の花々と、寄り添う猫たちを小さな物語として描き、一つひとつの作品に閉じ込めました。
大切な手紙やアクセサリー、お気に入りの栞。
日々の暮らしの中で心惹かれるものをしまうための、小さな書庫のような存在になれたら
嬉しく思います。
feline pages は、猫と書物と季節を愛する人のための小さな世界です。
What is "feline pages ~ Neko to Sho ~"?
A nameless woman in a kimono, gazing out at a seasonal garden while cradling a cat in her arms. My creations are inspired by this quiet moment.
Magnolias in spring, morning glories in summer, cosmos flowers in autumn, and camellias in winter. I weave the changing flowers of the seasons and the comforting presence of cats into tiny stories, capturing them within each piece.
A treasured letter, a piece of jewelry, or a favorite bookmark. I would be deeply honored if my work could become a special little place for the things that capture your heart in daily life.
feline pages is a small, quiet world for those who love cats, books, and the changing seasons.
feline pagesの作品を作るきっかけ
私と猫の付き合いは古く、10代の頃から何匹もの猫と暮らしてきました。
今は猫を飼っていませんが、道で猫を見かけるとつい足を止めてしまいます。運よく近寄ってきてくれたら写真を撮ったり、おやつをあげたり。猫たちは今でも私の暮らしの中にいる大切な存在です。
カルトナージュと出会ったのは、ある日ネットショップで見かけた美しい箱がきっかけでした。思わず購入したものがキットだったため、自分で作ることになったのですが、完成した箱は驚くほど美しく、あの日画面の中で見たものがそのまま手元に現れたようでした。
それから私は箱作りに夢中になりました。さまざまな生地や紙を集め、大好きな猫柄やジュイやモリスを使った箱を作りながら、自分の好きなものに囲まれる楽しさを知りました。
ある時ふと、「一緒に暮らしてきた猫たちを作品の中に残せないだろうか」と思いました。写真も考えましたが、せっかくならイラストにしたい。そうしてAIによる画像制作を始めたのです。
猫たちの姿を形にしていくうちに、ある思いが浮かびました。
「私もそこに入りたいな。みんなと一緒に。」
その願いから生まれたのが、猫を抱く着物姿の女性です。
女性の顔を描いていないのは、見る人それぞれが自分を重ねられるように。そして私自身も、その後ろ姿に自分を重ねられるように。
feline pages の作品は、猫と過ごした記憶や憧れ、そして季節の美しさを小さな箱の中に閉じ込めたものです。
もしかするとこれは、慢性猫不足症候群の私の欲望が生み出した箱なのかもしれません。
猫を抱いて庭の花を眺める――そんな時間への小さな憧れから生まれた世界です。
The Inspiration Behind "feline pages"
My connection with cats goes back a long way; I have shared my life with many cats since my teenage years. Although I don't have a cat of my own right now, I still find myself stopping in my tracks whenever I spot one on the street. If I'm lucky enough for them to approach me, I take photos or give them a little treat. Cats remain a deeply cherished presence in my daily life.
My encounter with cartonnage began when I stumbled upon a beautiful box in an online shop. I bought it on a whim, only to discover that it was actually a kit. When I made the box myself, I was amazed by how beautiful the finished piece turned out—it felt as though the beautiful object I had seen on my screen had somehow come to life in my own hands.
From that moment on, I was captivated by box-making. I began collecting various fabrics and papers, crafting boxes with my favorite cat motifs, Toile de Jouy, and William Morris prints. Through this process, I discovered the joy of surrounding myself with things I love.
One day, a thought came to me: "Is there a way to preserve the memories of the cats I've lived with inside my creations?" I considered using photographs, but thought it would be more meaningful to turn them into illustrations. That is what led me to explore creating images with AI.
As I brought the forms of these cats to life, another wish surfaced: "I want to be in there too. Together with all of them." It was from this longing that the image of the woman in a kimono cradling a cat was born.
I chose not to show the woman's face. I wanted anyone who looks at her to be able to imagine themselves in her place—just as I can imagine myself in her silhouette.
Each piece from "feline pages" is a little world that holds memories of cats I've shared my life with, quiet longings, and the beauty of the changing seasons within a small box.
If I am being completely honest, these boxes might simply be the creations of my own desires—born from a lifelong shortage of cats.
It is a world born from a simple longing: to sit quietly, holding a cat, and watch the flowers bloom in the garden.
プロフィール
私のハンドメイド歴はかなり長く、中でも彫金は30年以上になります。ここ数年は縁あってカルトナージュという厚紙を使った工芸と出逢い、様々な布や紙を使って箱や身の回りのものを仕立てています。
金属と紙、素材は違えど、ものの構造を考えたり、素材の性質を見ながら仕立てたりするところには共通点があります。独自のデザインを考え、素材の組み合わせや細かな仕立てを楽しみながらひとつひとつ形にしています。
偶然の出会いから始めたものが、気づけば長く続いている。そんなふうに素材との出会いに導かれながら、これからもあちらへこちらへと寄り道しながらの旅になりそうですが、自分が作りたいものを探していきたいと思っています。
Profile
I have been making things by hand for many years, with a particular focus on metalwork for over three decades. In recent years, I was introduced to the art of cartonnage, a craft using sturdy paperboard, and have been creating boxes and everyday items with a variety of fabrics and papers.
Although the materials are different, I find there is a common thread between metal and paper: thinking about structure, and working with an understanding of each material’s qualities. I enjoy developing my own designs, exploring combinations of materials, and paying attention to the finer details as I shape each piece, one by one.
Sometimes, something begins with an unexpected encounter and continues for much longer than I expected. Guided by these encounters with materials, I imagine my journey will continue to take me here and there, with a few detours along the way. I hope to keep exploring and discovering the things I truly want to create.
